INN 2.x Troubleshooting Basics
IMPORTANT: INN uses the syslog facility extensively. There should always be entries in the news.notice file at every startup and shutdown. If these messages are not appearing, then the more important "critical" and "error" logs are not being written either. Modify /etc/syslog.conf, which controls where log messages are written.
